Priddy Ugly trusted us with the very first release of the first single off of his upcoming album EGYPT DLX.
This album is a sequel to debut album, EGYPT which was released in 2017 through Ambitiouz Entertainment.
The 15-track offering allowed us into his life journey, family dynamics and pursuit of success. It is a solid album with just the right number of features, from hot rappers in the local scene, Youngsta, A-Reece, Shane Eagle, Emtee, KLY and his producer, Wichi 1080.
On EGYPT DLX, we expect to be taken through a similar journey of rap, trap, kwaito and melodic infusion but better, as the rapper previously said ‘the aim is to grow.’
The new single, ‘Reminder II’ is a follow up of ‘Reminder To Myself’ featuring his girlfriend, Refilwe ‘Vanilla Blaq’ Modiselle on vocals. The prequel was produced by Lunatik, who is the man behind K.O’s ‘Cara Cara’ and Kid X’s ‘Pass n Special’.
‘Reminder To Myself’ is precisely as what the title suggests, in it, he tells us success and patience are two things on his shopping list.
‘Reminder II’ produced by Wichi 1080, follows the same trend with a mellowed down but straight to the point and merciless delivery. He is rolling solo on this one, it starts off with a melodic vocal hook stating why he had to remind himself again.
He sings: ‘It’s just a reminder to myself, sometimes we forget what we do this for.’ Coming in with first verse using same entry line from prequel version and meanest new additions. He asserts that he is the greatest in the continent and that he dominates any room he enters. ‘Ever found greatness, lurking in your oesophagus? Really I’m the greatest on the continent.’
He continues by flexing about his success, his girlfriend, who he refers to as his queen and calls himself Piccasso with the pen. He also takes jabs at rappers who think they are keeping it real but got counterfeit chains on and boldly says he is already preparing a speech for his “SAMA win’.
EGYPT DLX is available on pre-order as of this morning.
