We just received news that Nomuzi ‘Moozlie’ Mabena joined forces with Steve Madden for a project titled Moozlie Versus X Steve Madden Music and we already stan for it.
Turns out that this Steve Madden Music project was launched in late 2016 but it is a first one for the motherland. The main purpose behind it is to scout, highlight and support artists who resonate ‘within a unique sound.’
The rapper and television personality has shown us her star power following her debut on our screens as the winner of the MTV Base VJ Search in 2012, which propelled her success to greater heights.
She has since made host to various major entertainment shows and events, as well as a red carpet correspondent to local and international award shows — including the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles and the MTV Europe Music Awards in Glasgow, Scotland.
The ‘Skhanda Queen’ burst into the rap scene with a feature on Kid X’s single, ‘Se7en’, under the Cashtime Life record label, which she was signed with at the time.
She served us with mean flows on different tracks with artists from this label including the co-founder K.O and also collaborated with top names in SA Hip-Hop industry such as AKA, Rouge and more.
The Benoni-native continued to spread her wings and proved that she is absolutely boss when she left the record label to start her own eponymous label in 2016.
In August, she dropped her long awaited single, ‘Recipe’ as the first Nomuzi Mabena Music signee.
The single topped the charts and had social media abuzz, but seriously can you blame us? She is all kinds of flames.
Also, Is she not killing the fashion game with her eclectic looks and signature brush cut and sometimes finger wave hairstyles though?
Anyway, coming back to the music scene, this collaboration with Steve Madden solidifies her spot as a front runner in the South African pop culture landscape.
Moozlie is set to drop her debut mixtape, Versus, tomorrow, making this a timely announcement.

Steve Madden SA Marketing Manager, Sarah Vance says Moozlie is a purposeful choice for this very first collaboration with a South African act because ‘she not only displays a versatile mix of musical talent but carries the fierce and fancy Steve Madden persona.’
‘Upon hearing of Moozlie’s interest in recording a mixtape, the potential to support and elevate her sound seemed undeniable. The co-creation of Versus is spearheaded by Moozlie’s creative process and supported further by Steve Madden.’
Sbu Motloung, director of SBR Projects aka Moozlie’s management says the collaboration is a testament to the multitalented beauty’s brand strength and her consistency in staying true to herself.
‘The collaboration is a perfect fit and something we as a team are extremely excited about. We can’t wait for everyone to hear the Moozlie Versus X Steve Madden Music mixtape dropping tomorrow.’
