Glee actor Mark Salling has been found dead at age 35

Mark Salling

Mark Salling, the former Glee actor who played bad boy Noah “Puck” Puckerman on the show for six years, has been found dead at the age of 35.

His attorney Michael J Proctor, verified the news in a statement: “I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning.”

“Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment.

“He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother. The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected.”

In October, Mark pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, and avoided a 20-year jail sentence in the process.

He was arrested in 2015, and in 2016 pleaded not guilty to charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Mark originally faced 20 years in prison, but documents obtained by several outlets show that he entered into a plea bargain with California’s district attorney.

Prosecutors said that more than 50 000 indecent images and videos were found on Mark’s laptop, with some of the victims as young as three to five years old, and a further 4 000 images and 160 videos found on his flash drive.

The 35-year-old actor, who played Puckerman from 2009 to 2015, was been ordered to pay the equivalent of R638 000 to each victim, and was facing between four and seven years in prison. However, the sentence was yet to be officially approved by a federal judge.

As part of his plea bargain, TMZ reports, Mark was made to undertake counselling, and subject to 20 years supervised release with restrictions on his interactions with under-18s.

Mark was to be registered as a sex offender, and not allowed to live within view of parks, playgrounds, school yards, or any other places where under-18s could be expected to hang out.

Sorry ladies, Ed Sheeran is officially off the market!

Ed Sheeran

That’s right – everyone’s favourite ginger is now engaged to girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, who said ‘I do’ to Ed’s proposal after almost three years of dating.

As is becoming standard in celeb world, Ed took to Instagram to announce his engagement with a loved-up pic of the two of them. “Got myself a fiancée just before new year”, he said in the caption. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”

The engagement shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise though, as last year Ed told the press how Cherry had inspired his song ‘Perfect’, which topped the charts in countries around the world. Although the engagement itself has been a secret for the past few weeks, Ed has always been open about his love for his partner, who he’s known since they went to school together as children. After reconnecting years later, the couple began dating in 2015, and are now on the way to making the ultimate commitment to each other.

“I’ve known Cherry since I was 11,” the singer said in a March 2017 interview. “She worked on

Wall Street in New York, and I had like six shows around New York in 2015. It was around then that we reconnected. I went on tour again, and then I went to Taylor’s [Swift] 4th of July party. I was texting Cherry, and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history.”

Ed’s fiancée has also been instrumental in helping him with his struggle against substance abuse. “I didn’t really notice it was happening” he said. “It just started gradually happening, and then some people (including Seaborn) took me to one side and were like, ‘Calm yourself down’. It’s all fun to begin with, it all starts off as a party and then you’re doing it on your own and it’s not, so that was a wake-up call.”

Moving in together was a major change, too. “I think that was a real help grounding me,” he said. “I was a 25-year-old in the music industry on tour so I just needed someone to balance me out.”

It seems she’s now set to do that for a lifetime – and we don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to hear what songs she inspires Ed to write next. Congrats to the happy couple!

10 Odd things Meghan Markle won’t be able to do when she joins the royal family

Meghan Markle has already taken her first steps to becoming a royal, and while we sit and wait for the biggest event of the year – the royal wedding, obvs – Meghan learns about a few things she won’t be able to do when she receives the Duchess title. From taking selfies to wearing wedges, these are some odd no-nos amongst the Buckingham Palace residents.

Meghan Markle

1 Use any of her social media accounts

Meghan has already deactivated all of her social media accounts and from now on our royal-to-be will be joining Prince WilliamKate Middleton and Prince Harry on the family’s Kensington Royal account.

2 Sign autographs or take selfies with fans

Even if you’re a Suits fan – like all of us here at the GLAMOUR HQ – do not approach Meghan for an autograph. Our Rachel won’t be allowed to sign autographs anymore. This is only a safety measure to avoid the risk of her signature being forged – she’s can only sign royal documents and sometimes visitor books.

Meghan also won’t be allowed to take selfies with fans. On her first official event with Prince Harry, a couple asked for a pic and the actress had to deny it, saying: “We’re not allowed to do selfies.” What a shame!

3 Show PDA with her hubby-to-be

Although we loved those super romantic engagement photos Meghan and Harry will have to keep PDA to a minimum when out on their royal duties. That’s why you’ll never see William and Kate holding hands (a rule that our new royal duo already broke) because as working representatives of the British monarchy and when they step out together, they are just doing their jobs.

4 Vote!

When Meghan marries Harry she will become a UK citizen, but that doesn’t mean she will have the right to vote. The UK parliament claims that it is “unconstitutional” for a monarch to vote.

5 Have bridesmaids her own age

Traditionally, at a royal wedding, the bride’s party includes only children or pre-teenagers. This rule was already broken by the Duchess of Cambridge who had her sister Pippa as her bridesmaid at her wedding to Prince William, and by Queenie herself who had a had a group of bridesmaids who were in their twenties. We really hope Meghan won’t take this rule to heart – who wouldn’t love to see Serena Williams and Priyanka Chopra walking her down the aisle?

6 Get a coloured mani

We all know the Queen’s favourite nail polish is a nude, slightly pink-ish shade from Essie, called ‘Ballet Slippers’, but what will be Meghan’s go-to? According to sources for OK! magazine, royal family members are prohibited from wearing dark and coloured nail varnish, and should stick to neutral and nude colours. But then again, there are so many chic nude shades nowadays, that we don’t think this will be a problem for Meghan.

7 Wear wedges – even in spring/summer

OK, this one is not official, but rumour has it that the Queen despises wedges – so Meghan might have to spring-clean her closet ahead of season. A source told Vanity Fair: “The Queen isn’t a fan of wedged shoes. She really doesn’t like them and it’s well known among the women in the family.”

8 Cross her legs when she sits

This is very frowned upon for royal family members. As we learned in the Princess Diaries, a princess puts her legs side-by-side and slightly tilts them – this pose is dubbed “the Duchess Slant”. Got it, Meg?

9 Eat at her own pace…

Apparently there are very strict rules when eating at the same table as the Queen. According to Diane Gottsman, the author of Modern Etiquette for a Better Life, you can only begin to eat when the Queen has started. Not only that, when the Queen finishes, everyone around her also must stop eating, even if there is still food on their plates. Kay.

10 …Or have her own bedtime

Oh, and if Meghan is staying at the Queen’s house, she can’t go to bed before the Queen – she must stay up until the royal matriarch goes to sleep.

That’s a lot to learn, good luck to our new favourite royal-to-be!

Fan advices Mona to look MORE CELEBRITY

Yah neh, some fans have zero chill, last week Black Coffee’s supporter tried to give him advice on how he should conduct his live performances, now this week a fan gave South African actress Mona Monyane some publicity advice. Monyane took a screenshot of a DM she received on Instagram and shared it on social media;

Your pictures don’t look of a celebrity try to improve

Said the concerned supporter.

Noma had no words and she just tweeted the screenshot.

Your thoughts?

Tyra Banks just took on the fashion industry: “My skin is not a trend”

Tyra Banks

Another year brings another cycle of America’s Next Top Model, one of the few constants left in this world. Tyra Banks swung by the AOL Build Series stage on Tuesday to hold a Q&A before her return to the show, and one audience member posed the question: Does Tyra think the fashion industry is liberal, and if so, why has it been such a long, slow slog to see more inclusive beauty standards, and less racially insensitive ad campaigns? In response, Tyra laid out one of the biggest problems in the fashion world.

Tyra starts her answer by point-blank saying no, the fashion industry isn’t liberal. While the people within it may be liberal-leaning, she says the industry as a whole doesn’t merit the label, and there are some people who use their power to preserve the industry’s flawed state. For years, the fashion industry had dictated which ethnicity’s “look” is trendy each season — and that mindset prevents lasting change, and keeps models from gaining the respect and recognition that they deserve.

ANTM has always made a point of showcasing diverse women, and the show’s new season has the most diverse cast in its history. But from Tyra’ years in the industry, the show is an outlier, and long-term progress is yet to come. “[The industry] is liberal and cyclical, and trends,” Tyra says. “Oh, it’s a black girl season! Oh, it’s a Brazilian season! OK, now where are they? Oh, it’s the Russians! Oh, now it’s the Asian girls!” Tyra continued: “To me, race is not a trend. My skin is not a trend, your skin is not a trend. We are who we are, so we should not go in and out of fashion. My booty, her booty, should not go in and out of fashion, that should just be.”

It comes down to objectification, she says. “The trend should be what we put on our bodies, not our bodies. And so that’s the part of fashion that I don’t like, is they’ll say, oh, the chocolate girls with the short hair is in for two years. And now, where’s that girl? She’s trying to figure out how she’s going to pay her bills, because she’s no longer hot, and cannot pay to get hired. And that’s what hurts me.”
