Sports broadcaster Robert Marawa was dismissed from the SABC not so long ago and according to him it was a plan that he feels the broadcaster had been working on for a while.

“They always had a plan to try and see me in the street. When you work it has to be an enabling environment‚ so you can’t always be fighting to do your work. People have to be supporting you‚ in order for you to do the work. So I found that I was wearing boxing gloves more often in trying to get the work done‚ as opposed to having assistance to work. You always found that there was antagonism of some sort‚” Robert told Azania Mosaka on 702.

Robert who went on a self imposed suspension after the producer for his show was suspended said his dismissal was becuase there was a change of management at the SABC.

“You have to remember that that was Metro’s management. The management that came through now in June was SABC sport. So Metro relinquished its power to handle sport to SABC sport‚ so that is why the relationship lasted 15 days‚” he explained.

Robert has not said where he will go but there have been many speculations that he will join Tbo Touch’s online radio TouchHD.

Actress and business woman Phindile Gwala revealed a few days ago that she is leaving the role of Nonny that made her a household name on hit soapie Muvhango. Phindile said leaving Muvhango was just about broadening her horizons and there was no bad blood between her and the show.

During a recent interview with The Fresh Breakfast Phindile revealed that she is actually a child of two pastors and part of her time is spent behind the pulpit preaching.

“I preach on certain Sundays. I started last year in February. My parents are pastors, not the famous pastors or ones that give you snakes. It’s not one of those churches. Its an old fashioned church. I preach in Ecaleni, Tembisa and I am there every Sunday except when I am working out of town,” Phindile explained.

So with her leaving the show maybe Phindile maybe heading to become a pastor? Although the star didn’t say that she will become a pastor, I guess time will tell if she follows in her parents footsteps.

Phindile Gwala has been on the small screen acting as Noni for the past five years. The actress played a vibrant and bubbly personality who always found some type of drama.

Phindile resigned from the soapie not because she was unhappy but because she wants to grow her brand.

“I resigned because I have been there for some time and I want to grow my brand beyond Muvhango.” she said to Sunday World.

Her fans are saddened by her departure from the show and they took to twitter to express how much they would miss her.

Bonang reveals how she initially wanted to be famous

Bonang-1

Media personality Bonang Matheba is one of the most well known celebrities in South Africa and she is known for many things including her style, but Bonang says that wasn’t the thing she wanted to be famous for.

In an except from her book From A to B: Invest In Your Sparkle, Bonang reveals that for her when she started out it was all about getting famous for her work.

“For the first two years, I didn’t really care about what I wore on Live. When I say I didn’t care what I wore I don’t mean I didn’t apply my mind, it was just I had a different focus and being a style queen wasn’t it,” Bonang explains in the book.

For Bonang her goal was to be the best television presenter she could be. “I had grown up watching people like Basetsana Kumalo and Ursula Stapelfeldt cement themselves as TV presenters; I watched their names become synonymous with what good presenting is and I wanted that for myself,” she adds.

“As far as fame was concerned, I wanted to be famous because I was excellent,” Bonang elaborates.

DRUM recently caught up with Yfm DJ Sabelo Mtshali aka DJ Sabby to speak about fatherhood. He’s a new dad to a baby boy named Nkosingiphile Orifha aka Ori Mtshali.

He told us, “It may sound cliché, but my son is my new reason to hustle.” He added that before his son was born he simply, “hustled for material things”. Now he actually has a real reason to get up and go to work.

The DJ says he’s “learning everyday” from spending time with his little boy, and says “parenting is an amazing journey, and for me, the journey has just begun”.

When we spoke to Sabby about the day Orifha was born, he got so excited, saying, “When Orifha was born he cried then I cried too, it wasn’t tears of sadness, no not at all, it was tears of joy, tears of a G who’s son had just been born,” he said of the most amazing day of his life so far.

He explained the baby’s name too. Orifha “God-given” in Venda and to DJ Sabby his son is a “blessing” and a “true gift from God”.
