The 2018 Met Gala is upon us girls and boys, which means another 24 hours of fawning over the biggest names in showbiz as they strut their stuff on the red carpet, all in aid of charity. The event, formally known as the Costume Institute Gala, happens every first Monday of May and is a fundraiser dedicated to New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, aka The Anna Wintour Costume Center, in homage to the American Vogue’s editor-in-chief, who has been a chair member of the museum’s gala since 1995. Every year the celebrities don some of their most outrageous gowns to fit with the theme, which this year is ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’, and we all knew it was going to be super controversial. Just like every year, though, there are a bunch of people (mostly on Twitter) who are less than pleased with the sartorial offering on the Met Gala red carpet. It didn’t take long for the tweets and memes to come rolling in…

Who allowed Kendall Jenner into the #MetGala lookin like that. Better yet, who allowed those who don’t follow the met’s dress code into the event at all?? If y’all can’t show up and show out, you gotta go. pic.twitter.com/4lSrNRiLoG

#MetGala looks like so much fun and there’s a theme and you could do much with it but every year only rihanna and five ppl actually try and then everyone else buys dresses from forever21 and calls it a day pic.twitter.com/3pFQ7w7KkG

These rich ppl have all the money in the world to make whatever outfits they can dream up but they aren’t creative enough to even follow the theme. I’m ready for Rihanna.

There were, however, a few people who they were SERIOUSLY impressed with. Cue, Rihanna and some other folk you might recognise…
